Who are we?
The Muirlands Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit fundraising organization dedicated to enhancing middle school for our students, staff and parents.
What do we do?
We raise money to provide financial support for a wide variety of causes that the District cannot pay for: new computers and technology, the computer technician’s salary, a portion of the nurse’s and librarian’s salary, a class sets of text books (so your child can keep his/her book at home), field trips, after school Clubs, maintaining student lockers, campus beautification, special events, classroom supplies, and the list goes on.
Each year our most successful fundraising event is our direct mail solicitation. The Foundation's Fall Fundraising Letter will arrive at homes via "snail mail" in mid-October. It should be hard to miss since it is bright green! In this mailer we try to make the case for why each family should consider a donation to the Muirlands Foundation. Cannot find yours? We sponsor the annual Sunset at the Cove gathering, which in addition to meeting your teachers and other parents; you can help support your teachers Wish List for this year’s classroom. This year's event was held on Thursday October 16, 2008 from 5:30-8:00 pm and was a great success. Thank you La Jolla Cove Suites! www.lajollacove.com.
We also sponsor the annual Holiday Luncheon Boutique, at the La Jolla Country Club. Join us for food, fun and shopping among the unique items that can only be purchased at the event. Purses, jewelry, and many home items are the hot sellers. Save the Date: Thursday, November 6, 2008 from 11:00-2:00 at the La Jolla Country Club, 7301 High Ave, www.lajollacountryclub.com.
Where & when do we meet?
Starting with the 2008-2009 school year, the Foundation is going to combine its meetings with those of the PTA, the first Thursday of each month at 12:30 in the Auditorium.
Why do we do it?
The Foundation does its best to fund the necessities and extras that the district doesn’t provide. We support salaries for the librarian, the school's network technician, and sometimes the school nurse. We fund curricular enhancements, provide scholarships for field trips and club participation, work on campus beautification, fund "2nd set" textbooks and more.
We do it with your help and support. We can change things for the better, but we cannot do it without you. This year our fundraising activities will include: sale of ceramic tiles, "Decorate a Pole", Pizza Wednesdays, Sunset at the Cove, the Luncheon Boutique and a bi-annual "request for funds." Also, please do not forget to sign up for escrip at any of your local vendors (Vons, etc.) that support the program.
